Qualifications: Note again, that this show is a live early morning show with very early work hours. In order to facilitate the learning experience, the following qualifications are preferred. Candidate should be seeking a career in digital, linear or mobile/social media journalism. Should be self-motivated, able to multi-task, have a good attitude, and be able to function well in an environment with short deadlines and quick turnaround projects.

Duties: Turner's Students @ Work Internships are paid at minimum-wage and structured to last approximately 12 weeks during the Fall 2012 school semester. Generally interns will work from September 10th through November 30th. Resume and Cover Letter are required. Students should have a strong academic record (GPA 3.0 or above strongly preferred). Students must be current Juniors or Seniors or in Graduate School. In addition, students may not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship. Students seeking college credit are strongly encouraged to apply. Note to International Students: All international students will be required to provide documentation of proper visa paperwork prior to the beginning of the internship if accepted to the program. Due to the high volume of candidates for Turner's Internship Program, interested students are encouraged to apply for openings as soon as possible, as these positions will be filled on an ongoing basis. Future semester Internship postings will be available after the current semester deadline.

CNN's early morning shows feature the latest news from a team of top journalists including: Soledad O'Brien, Zoraida Sambolin and Ashley Banfield. "Early Start and Starting Point" are usually live from the Time Warner Center in Manhattan, featuring high-profile guests and CNN correspondents from around the world.

Interns gain insight into the editorial process, while interning at CNN New York. They strengthen their research skills while contributing to the show and participating in futures meetings. In the field, interns have the opportunity to accompany producers on stories. In production, interns learn how to set up a script with tape and write using CNN's database. Interns learn how to use CNN's tape database to locate tapes for packages and sound bites for air. Often, interns book and greet show guests and assist in basic Administrative tasks. Intern s schedules vary however, for these shows, interns generally get into the office very early and work through 9am.

Potential Opportunities: Interns have the opportunity to participate in how the show ideas are developed, how videotape is gathered and edited, the script-writing process, and how the program is built from an editorial and production perspective. Assist Associate Producers, Tape Editors, Assignment Editors, and Producers in New York.

Video/TV News Production Fellowship:

Democracy Now!, a New York-based independent, non-commercial daily radio/TV/Internet newshour is seeking applicants for two paid internships/fellowships beginning this summer. Applicants for these position must have excellent shooting/editing skills and work well under deadline pressure. Duties will include assisting our news team in producing the daily news program, working on the live broadcast, editing news packages and shooting news events. Prior journalism/documentary experience preferred. The ability to work well in a team and maintain a professional demeanor in all situations a must.

The stipend paid will cover a minimum of 20 hours per week for a minimum of six months. Additional hours may be requested depending on the needs of the program.

Maureen Roscelli Memorial Scholarship

The Garden State Journalists Association will sponsor the fourteenth annual Maureen Roscelli Memorial Scholarship for college juniors majoring in journalism, media, or communications. The $1,000 scholarship honors Maureen Roscelli, a dedicated professional who believed in lifelong education.

To qualify for this scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria: the student must reside in New Jersey, plan a career in communications, and be a college junior in good academic standing.

An applicant must submit a letter of 300-500 words describing background and career goals, and list home address and telephone number, extra-curricular college activities, and the name and addresses of the high school from which the applicant graduated. Letters must be typed, double-spaced, and sent to:
