The Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellowship
Open Call for Submissions through December 15, 2010
The Karen Schmeer Editing Fellowship is a year-long experience that encourages and champions the talent of an emerging editor. The Fellowship creates opportunities to help cultivate an editor’s artistry and craft, and expand his or her professional and creative community. Awarded once a year, the Fellowship honors the memory of gifted editor Karen Schmeer (Fog of War; Fast, Cheap & Out of Control), who was killed in a hit-and-run car accident at age 39, on January 29, 2010.

THE DIRECTORS GUILD OF AMERICA TRAINING PROGRAM - Applications Now Available!
The DGA AD TRAINING PROGRAM is a two-year professional apprenticeship training a select group of people to become feature film assistant directors. Trainees learn on-the- job as paid employees supervised by DGA members on film productions (features, film TV series, and commercials) shooting primarily in New York City. Successful program completion results in eligibility for membership in the DGA as a Second Assistant Director. Recent assignments include: THE OTHER GUYS, SALT, BOARDWALK EMPIRE, GOSSIP GIRL, AND LAW AND ORDER SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT.

Cinereach is now accepting applications for the Winter 2011 Grant Cycle! Apply online by December 1st, 2010 to be considered for our support. Cinereach supports feature-length nonfiction and fiction films that are at the intersection of engaging storytelling, visual artistry, and vital subject matter.

KICKSTARTER PANEL TOMORROW NIGHT

I'll be on a panel tomorrow night about alternative funding sources, specifically the crowdsourcing site Kickstarter. It's at Women Make Movies at 6:30pm. Check their website for details.

Sorry it's not free and I don't have any guest list but should be interesting as everyone on the panel speaking has raised $$$ for their film projects via Kickstarter.
