Assistant Professor – Film
Full-time, tenure-track position
School of Art; University of Oklahoma
The University of Oklahoma is seeking a tenure track faculty member, at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, to teach in the Media area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Teach a variety of courses in filmmaking ranging from theory to practice.
- Advise undergraduate students and mentor graduate students
- Participate in curriculum review and development
- Serve on program, school and university committees
- Manage equipment inventory and upgrades with other faculty in program
- Perform all other related activities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: MFA in film, video, digital arts or related field required.
- Applicant should be a practicing artist with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional creative activity.
- Should have an understanding and knowledge of the practice, theory, and history of experimental film.
- Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate skills in high definition video, lighting, editing, digital animation and related production skills.
- Teaching or demonstrated creative activity in one or more of the following areas desirable: sound, installation art, performance, special effects, animation, or other related digital arts.
- This individual will be working within an interdisciplinary academic program.
- Teaching experience at the college level and mentoring of students is preferred.
